Remember the disciplines of Lent: Prayer, fasting & almsgiving.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

Regardless of age, all are encouraged to follow the disciplines of Lent regarding Fasting and abstinence unless physically unable to do so.

Laws of Days of Abstinence: Current Practice:
• Begins on one’s 14th birthday.
• Ash Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
• Obliges abstention from all flesh meat.

Laws of Days of Penance: Current Practice:
• Applies to all the Faithful.
• Lent and the Fridays outside of Lent.
• N.B. In the United States, on the Fridays outside of Lent, one is permitted to commute abstinence into another form of penance such as the Stations of the Cross. (Canon #1250)

Laws of Days of Fast: Current Practice:
• Applies to everyone ages 18 to 59 inclusive.
• One full meal permitted and two other meals may be taken which, when combined are less than a full meal.
• Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

The Law of the Eucharistic Fast: Current Legislation:
• Fast from all food and drink, except water or medicine for one hour before reception of the Holy Eucharist. Those who are able to maintain the earlier disciple of the three hour fast or the midnight fast are encouraged to do so.

January Finances: Income $2580 Expenses $3450 Deficit $870 (Remains $750 unpaid obligation as of February 8).

Candlemas Finances: Income $841 Expenses $1125 Deficit $284.
The format of the Cathedral Masses is being re-evaluated so as to break-even.Fr. Gill has pledged his continued support of our endeavours.

Holy Water: There is holy water (w/blessed salt) available in the sacristy for those who desire it.

Scheduling: Please be advised that 2016 Masses and Liturgical Services are CANCELED for Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday & Holy Saturday. Please adjust your schedules accordingly.

Taxes: If anyone needs verification of their donations for tax purposes, you will need to request it. Please realize it will take Fr. McKale some time so do not wait until the last minute.

Mass Intentions: If anyone still has unfulfilled Mass intentions, Fr. McKale can pass them on to a priest that will satisfy the intention by offering a TLM or Divine Liturgy (Byzantine). Please specify if you have a preference. The donation is $10. If you would like a Mass card, please include an extra $5 for the card.
